Indoor Archery

Indoor Archery at the club started in the fall of 2004. We currently have ten lanes. In our first season, we had three six week leagues and done very well. Our second season had two eight week leagues. Our most current season had enough interest that we only had one league of 12 weeks. This last league was a team league where shooters brought in their own team to compete against the other teams. Everyone had a great time.

Over the course of three seasons, we have installed new lights that shine down on the targets, new lights over the firing line, and also new lights throughout the clubhouse. The lighting is substantially better now compared to the first season. We have also recently upgraded our targets. We have replaced the original Morrell Indoor Range Cubes with a ten lanes of American Whitetail Layered foam targets that are incredibly similar to Block targets. We look forward to seeing how these targets will hold up to a full league year after year.

The leagues are, of course, handicapped. We have used a running handicap that changes each week to eliminate sandbagging, and this seems to work best.

Another thing we have tried in this most current season is head-to-head bracket tournaments. These have really gone over well, and we hope to have a few more of them in the future.

The 2008/2009 season will start with open practice in December. This year’s league will be another team format, and the first week will be the first week in January starting January 5th. Cost will be the same as last season at $50 per shooter. The league will be forming during the month of December. If you are interested in shooting, send Jeremiah an email.
